Income Category#25

F

I cannot understand why the Income Category (and its subcategories) can also be given an Expenditure value.
I think there should be categories for income only, and categories for expenses only. Possibly a category that could be said to be “neutral,” such as RECONCILIATION/REFUNDS. To me, it is implausible to see STIPLE as an expense item (at least that you are not an entrepreneur)…or a SALE with a negative value! (for me they should be categories with only positive values)

I strongly disagree! I very often add positive values to expenses that represent refunds. That way, if I spend 1000 on a clothing purchase and then make a return for 500, I will see on my monthly report that I only spent 500 in the clothing category.

This is much more correct than seeing that I spent 1000 (which is untrue) and then have income of 500 in a completely different category.

‘@Petr Stránský are you able to do what you described with synced accounts?

‘@Petr Stránský For what you say, there is a proposal to implement that a income goes to decrease the expenditure previously made.
I recommend that you vote on implementing the feature

When you add positive values to expenses you may (I am not sure if that is rught) get correct data in statistics related to expenses. But in the same time you corrupt data related to incomes.

That is why I have 2 categories (one for incomes, one for expenses) for reimbursements.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. We encourage more users to come forward and express their interest and struggles in the current system. Once it gains more traction and we see a higher demand for it, we can pass it over to the developers for their consideration.

Sorry, I don’t know if you can help me. I am using Android versión. I have introduced one Income monthly programmed (salary) with for example 1000€ every month and one Programmed expense of 500€, monthly too.
So I want to know on december 2024 my final Balance. I am using t’he Outlook option in Android. It show me a balance of 13.616.67€ and its impossible becaue It would have to be 12000-6000=6000€. What I am doing wrong?? Thanks!

The Forecast/Outlook is useless. Deal with it. :) I raised a case for that more than a year ago.
Check my discussion with support (attached as screenshots).

Basically I do not use forecast. Instead of it I use budgets (monthly and yearly) + planned transactions.
Thanks to budgets I know (more or less) how much I will spend and thanks to planned transactions (incomes) I know how much I will earn.

Thank you Kamil! Where you put t’he Programmed Income (for example salary), because the budget is only for expenses, isn’t It?

Unfortunately nowhere. I just can predict how much I earn each month during whole year and I compare it in my mind with budgets.

New user here. Trying to input my income as well and was suprised to have the same fields as Expense. Quite a bit confusing.

Yes, if it’s an Income transaction, just display income-related categories; expense transaction, only expense-related categories. It saves some bit of time in scrolling down to the income categories. “Other” categories = available for both.
